Over the summer, we've been busy translating the film into Spanish.

Does this mean Circuit is taking a trip? Wait and see. We just might be working on something ...

DVD cover and update

It has been quite a while since our last post here. Sorry about that. 2010 has been flying by.

Circuit has had several small, private screenings as of late. We've also relaunched the film's website, with a plan, in the upcoming months, to begin streaming portions of the film online. Our hope is to include not only sections of the finished film, but also storylines left on the cutting room floor. An expanded experience, if you will.

Oh, and we've finally designed our first DVD case:

Though we don't have the movie for sale quite yet on the site (we're still submitting to film festivals), look for it to become available soon.

The little details ...

There are a lot of little details that go into making a movie, things you wouldn't normally think of when you're an audience member, sitting in the theater. A prime example of this is the milk container used in the Christine/Taste segment. Seeing as the milk is supposed to be "bad" in every sense of the word, we decided to design our own label, create our own milk company, just for the film. Here's the final product, which you can see for about 1/2 a second in the movie.

Circuit featured in Imagine

CIRCUIT, the Boston-based feature film debut for writer/director Andrew Landauro, was awarded Best Picture Honors at the 2009 Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival. The award was announced October 29th.

"Our inclusion in the RIIHFF, along with the Best Picture win, is a true honor and something I will always appreciate," says Landauro ... "The movie making process is so grueling and so stressful that to receive such recognition makes the whole experience so very, very special."

Storyboard to Screen: Taste

Long before filming began on Circuit, Andrew drew up images of every shot in the movie. However, these were not your typical storyboards. Instead of turning the movie into a comic book (for lack of a better term) for the crew to use when filming, these images were more blueprints, and involved camera placement (often drawn right into the image), lighting breakdowns, and even specialized equipment needed to achieve the shot.

Here's a small snippet of Andrew's drawings, taken from the "taste" storyline. It revolves around the character Christine. Near the end of her story, she has an emotional breakdown in her bathroom before going to bed:

As you can see, the first panel stays fairly true to its movie counterparts. But the second panel is far different than the movie image that accompanies it, though it still follows the camera movements that Andrew originally drew.

Horror-101.com review of Circuit

Horror-101.com has posted a very nice review of Circuit on their site. Here are a few snippets:

I first watched it on the big screen as part of the Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival. It was nice that the picture closed out the weekend’s festivities, because it left time for me to think it over and try to piece the puzzle together in my mind ... I re-watched the film, this time with a few friends, and it was even better the second time around. Following our viewing, my friends and I formulated our theories on the film’s story and symbolism, gushing about the possibilities of dreams, aliens, drugs, and more. In the days following, I haven’t stopped thing about it.

Those who appreciate the nonlinear, science fiction-tinged works of visionary auteurs such as David Lynch, Richard Kelly, and David Cronenberg will love deconstructing the intellectual mindf**k that is Circuit and formulating their own interpretations of the events.

Circuit wins at RI International Film Festival

This just in ... Circuit was named co-Best Picture at the 10th annual Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival!

Film Festival goodness ...

Circuit played last weekend at the Fargo Fantastic Film Festival, which is part of a huge event called Valley Con. Though we weren't able to attend, the event seems like it was a lot of fun! Thanks to the folks at the FFFF for including our film!

Were you not in North Dakota last week? Well, are you in Rhode Island this weekend? If so, come see Circuit at the 10th annual Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival. We're closing out the festival and are honored to be included in such a diverse line-up of films!

In other news ...

Andrew brought the movie to Emerson College last week for a student screening. All went well and those in attendance seemed to enjoy the movie quite a bit. A big thanks to everyone involved.

Screening at the Loring-Greenough House announced!

Circuit has been selected to kick off a new series of film screenings at the Loring-Greenough House in Jamaica Plain, MA. Presented by the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club, the film will be shown on Tuesday (naturally), September 15th at 7:00PM. Tickets are $4 and will be available at the door.

Circuit at the Somerville Theatre - Tomorrow night!

Circuit is screening at the beautiful Somerville Theatre (55 Davis Square, Somerville, MA 02114) tomorrow, July 24th! Tickets are $25 (to help support Circuit's festival entry expenses and DVD costs) and the show starts at 8PM.

Circuit screening in Lowell, MA

While we continue to send Circuit across the country to various film festivals, we're happy to announce that we're doing another local Massachusetts screening of the film.

Here are the details:

Where: Lowell National Park Visitor Center, 246 Market Street, Lowell, MA

When: Tuesday, June 2nd @ 7PM

The screening is free, so come on by and see what everyone has been talking about! 

Andrew at Emerson & Celebration Photo

Successful screening

The MassArt screening went great. Thanks to everyone who packed the house. We're looking forward to having more showings around New England (and the world) over the next few months.

Circuit screening at MassArt

Circuit will be screened at the Massachusetts College of Art this Wednesday, April 8th, as part of the school's ongoing Film Society series. The show starts at 8 p.m. and will be in Screening Room 1 of the film department.

Festival entries begin

The time has finally arrived. Circuit is beginning to make it out into the world. The first festival entries have been mailed, with many, many more to come.

Though technically entered thus far as a "work in progress," the film is essentially complete, with only minor sound design and tiny edits left to be made.

This is getting exciting.

Almost finished . . .

It has been a long time since our last update. However, don't let that fool you into thinking Circuit had dropped off the planet. No, the film has been moving in high gear over recent months, with everything from title credits to visual effects to sound mixing and scoring taking place. We're getting close to the finish line. Roughly 50% of visual effects are complete, and they are looking great. 

All signs point to a mid-November completion. Then, the fun begins . . . festival entries.
